Microsoft reveals the launch territories for Xbox One TV DVR

One of the big announcements for the Xbox One at Gamescom this year was that a subscription-free TV DVR service will be launching in 2016. While the Xbox One is currently capable of watching live TV, if you want to record it you’ll still need to use an outside cable box. With this launch, Microsoft will change how owners interact with the TV through the Xbox.

So where is it coming first? The good news is it’s not just the United States that will get the service. The bad news is only Canada and the United Kingdom make up the launch-list. So three countries initially for this service and then presumably Microsoft will begin rolling it out to the rest of the world.

The only downside to the service is if you want to take advantage of it, you’ll need to purchase an external drive in order to save all of your movies and shows, as the service will not work with just the internal hard drive.
