Guillermo Del Toro swears off working on video games


Since Konami has gone completely nuclear on its video games division and cancelled Silent Hills, Guillermo Del Toro has sworn off working on video games ever again. The director’s original video game project also suffered a cancellation when THQ went under and his Insane project folded with it.

Del Toro released a brief statement about both of these situations during an interview, stating that he’ll not be attempting to make a video game any time in the near future.

I have proven to be the albatross of video games. I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else’s life, I have decided I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something.”

Of course there’s a bit of humor in that quote, but Del Toro says he isn’t opposed to someone else making games from some of his material.
