This Week On Xbox – Episode 5

This Week On Xbox

There are less than ten days away from the most exciting week of the year and already developers and publishers alike are beginning to build up the hype by releasing new trailers and teaser websites. As if the anticipation wasn’t high enough already!

If someone told me this time last year that in the same week we would get a trailer for both Rise of the Tomb Raider and Fallout 4 I would have been skeptical. I’m not saying I wouldn’t have believed it was possible, but I wouldn’t have bet on it.

This week Crystal Dynamics released their “Aim Greater” trailer, setting the tone for Lara’s new mindset and adventure, followed by Bethesda releasing the debut trailer for Fallout 4 showing massive environments full of intricate details and rich colors.

343 Industries released the remastered Halo 3: ODST campaign and Remnant multiplayer map add-on for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. If you played the game some time between November 11th and December 14th you can download these jewels for free! For everyone else you can pick them up for $4.99.

Black Tusk Studios – the Vancouver based Microsoft studio under the leadership of Rod Fergusson and in charge of the Gears of War franchise – have officially changed their name to The Coalition.

A trailer for Xbox Daily: Live @ E3, and no we aren’t in any way affiliated (but that would have been super cool). As the title suggests, this is the official live show hosted by Major Nelson and Graeme Boyd that covers everything Xbox related at E3. Expect to see interviews with guest stars and industry elites, as well as guests from 343 Industries, Turn 10 Studios, Crystal Dynamics, and more. Each day the show will featuring breaking news, exclusive announcements, trailer reveals, game demos, and a first look at the upcoming film Terminator: Genisys.

Wrapping up this weeks news, Killer Instinct released a new Shadow Mode where players can play against copies of themselves or their friends (similar to Drivatars with Forza 5). Also available this week, both Batman: Arkham Knight and The Elder Scrolls: Online are available for pre-download on Xbox Live.

Games launched this week:

  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare: Supremacy
  • Forza Horizon 2: Duracell Car Pack
  • The Swapper
  • Sparkle Unleashed
  • Massive Chalice
