Microsoft announced today that the Xbox One will be backward compatible with Xbox 360 games. Phil Spencer took the stage to announce the feature, stating “the games you have invested your time and money in will be able to be played natively on your Xbox One.”
You’ll need to have the original disc, which you can place in the Xbox One to download a digital edition of the Xbox One. According to Spencer, over 100 games will be supported by the holiday season.
Perhaps the biggest feature of the announcement is that Microsoft won’t charge you for a game you already own, so if you have the disc and the game is supported, presumably you’ll be able to download it and play it on your Xbox One for free.
