Ever since the announcement of Halo: The Master Chief Collection Xbox fans have been begging for the platforms second most beloved exclusive series to receive similar remastered treatment in what has been dubbed “The Marcus Fenix Collection.” Until yesterday the main thing that supported the title’s supposed existence was simply how quiet the new franchise developer (Black Tusk Studios) has been since the IP’s acquisition, but with the help of Xbox Live user Fox Solids new evidence supporting this title’s existence has surfaced.
Who knew getting this information would be as simple as sending Phil Spencer a private message on Xbox Live? I certainly didn’t.
Obviously this ‘conversation’ doesn’t confirm anything, but it does point towards something Gears of War related possibly being announced. It’s important to remember that Anniversary titles (on Xbox) are usually meant to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the original title. With that in mind, Gears of War was originally released on November 7th, 2006 and Microsoft acquired all rights to the franchise from Epic Games on January 27th, 2014. This would give the game a two-year development cycle, but it would also result in the guaranteed use of DirectX 12 and Unreal 4.
Of course this is just a rumor, so I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned to see where this goes.
