Write for Xbox One Daily: we’re seeking Contributors!

Once Xbox One discs start popping into shiny new consoles, we’ll undoubtedly face an avalanche of information. Hopefully you’ll continue to visit Xbox One Daily as your go to source for everything Xbox One related. To make sure we’re doing the best job possible, covering all the news, bringing you everything from tips, tricks, and game glitches to full reviews and videos, we’re increasing the size of our team.

That’s right… we want YOU to be on our team.

The  gaming community is filled with passionate, educated enthusiasts with loads of insight and knowledge to share. Think you got what it takes? Then consider this your invitation to apply as a Contributing Author on the Xbox One Daily team (we’re also looking for writers on PS4 Daily and Wii U Daily).

What is a Contributing Author?

The contributor position is an unpaid position. It provides a great opportunity to be published on a reputable news source. It’s a resume builder, opportunity to “get your name out there”, and allows you to engage in an open dialogue with a vibrant game-loving community.

What are the expectations of a Contributing Author?

Contributing Authors will be expected to publish a minimum of 1-3 articles each week. They’ll communicate closely with the editorial team via E-Mail, Skype, and other means, passing back and forth story ideas that could be either time sensitive or open ended. Maybe you already spend your time digging through gaming sites and social media and would love to bring the information to our readers with your own spin. Maybe you’ve always wanted to create videos, write tutorial articles, or compose full blown reviews of the newest games. We’re looking for a diverse set of contributors who can help take Xbox One Daily to the next level.

How can you apply?

  • Send an E-Mail to rob[at]gamefans[dot]com
  • Copy and paste “XOD Contributing Author” in the subject line… without the quotes
  • Tell us your name, age, location and a little bit about yourself
  • Tell us why you would make a great Contributing Author
  • Tell us how much time each week you hope to dedicate to Xbox One Daily (be realistic!) and what type of content you would most like to contribute
  • Copy/Paste/Link us (no attachments) to related writing samples in the XOD style
  • Give us an idea of what you’ll bring to the table by sharing a few unique article ideas you would enjoy writing
  • Convince us that you’re the “go-getter” we’re seeking!
  • Are you available on launch night/day? Let us know! We would love go turn these day one experiences into words that all our readers can enjoy

We’re looking for quality applicants, not how quickly you can show your interest/urgency. We’re expecting a large number of inquiries and will be unable to respond to every person. If we’re interested, expect to hear back from us in the coming days, at which point we’ll narrow down the field of candidates with some follow up questions.

Teamwork No. 1

Thanks and good luck!

I’m interested, but I always get an uneasy feeling when I’m required to provide ‘X’ amount of material in ‘X’ amount of time. Me and some friends were actually contacted to help provide material for DestinyHub.net’s official youtube channel, but we turned down the offer for that exact reason.

I love doing these sorts of things, I just hate when I must meet a deadline that’s not independent.

    • Deezy

Yeah, deadlines are part of time management. I am a multi tasker but deadlines are not my cup of tea as well. Time management is part of your job as well, however if you love what you do so much, you won’t need to worry much about deadlines. I can’t do it for ps4 because I currently don’t have access to lots of stuff (console, smartphone, etc). Also, as voluntary work, you can say you are doing it for the community when you are in an interview (this is a gaming community).

      • bluSPECTRE

I can handle time management, but having to do this on top of a full-time job, an open ended schedule, and not being in control of what you report on… I mean, what happens when there’s nothing to write an article on? I’d rather be in charge of my own schedule than having to rely on external sources to provide me with material.

        • Deezy

Yeah I was thinking about that too. This is like an extracurricular activity, with responsibilities. It’s about whether or not if the person can do it. If the person got the accessories needed for their advantage, and if their schedule got a free time gap in between, then its possible to be a Contributing Author. Otherwise decline it, for now. Did Rob posted a deadline for this position?

          • bluSPECTRE

Kind of, but not an official deadline. I already know I won’t sign up for it, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t something I’d like to do. I just don’t have time. I’m already struggling with my own things as is. :)

And besides, we can all add our own voice on the forums if there’s something we’d like to say.

    • handsomeguy

      Congrats on the system

      • bluSPECTRE

        The system?

        • handsomeguy

          Yes winning the X1

          • bluSPECTRE

I didn’t win the X1, I won a game. The X1 drawing isn’t till week after next if I’m not mistaken.

  • bizzy gie

This’ll be great for those who want to get into writing.

    • sd

      So are you applying???

      • bizzy gie

I would if I could, but I simply can’t at this point in my life.

  • link2nintendo

I was wondering if it’s the same deal if someone was interested in writing for Wii U Daily–send email to the same place etc.??

  • krayzielilsmoki

This is a great opportunity for people looking to gain experience in this type of field and what better way than writing articles for the best gaming console ever made

  • Rocco

I would love too, but I am in Law Enforcement and do not have the time to write 3 articles a week!

  • Matthew Mc Callion

I Am always reading up on the xbox one and would be great to contribute to the site but I could not guarantee one every week, even though I could end up posting 2-3 some weeks.

  • Got my “application” in a few days ago, and even though I’ve yet to receive any kind of email conformation or acknowledgment, I’ll be doing everything I can to document the night’s events as if I were selected, just in case. ;)

(Also, game embargoes expire tomorrow morning (9:00am EST) so we can see what everyone thinks of Ryse/DR3/FM5/etc…)
