In terms of game consoles, the Xbox One is pretty darn big, but does that really matter? “It looks like a cable box or a VCR!” But here’s the thing, these two items belong in your entertainment center — well maybe not a VCR, but you get the point.
There’s no denying that the Xbox One is a full-figured console, but the real question is, does it look out of place in your living room or game room’s setup? Unless you have a lime green TV with purple stripes, your answer should be no it doesn’t. But let’s face it, gamers are a fickle bunch and people love to complain about things.
“But it has a big power brick, the PS4 doesn’t!” While a large external power supply isn’t the most attractive thing to look at, last time we checked, it had nothing to do with games and other forms of entertainment. We’re no team of hardware engineers, but something tells us that the Xbox One’s power supply is external for a reason.
If you’re obsessed with having a small console, there are plenty of Gamecubes and PS2 Slims for sale on eBay for very reasonable prices. Both of these fantastic consoles have truckloads of amazing games to choose from. If these two legendary machines are too old for your liking, the OUYA is another game box that won’t occupy too much space.
All sarcasm aside, we feel that next-gen is truly about games and entertainment. Have you ever looked at the size of most gaming PCs? While they’re typically reserved for the Master Race, they tend to be pretty bulky.
As you can most likely tell, we’re not too moved by the Xbox One’s size and external power supply. As long as the machine runs quietly and the brick is stowed away safely, we really don’t care. Give us some good games, unique entertainment features and the new Kinect doing what Microsoft claims it’s capable of and we’re happy. It’s a tall order, but it just might be possible.
Personal opinions aside, we’d like to hear your thoughts on this overblown topic, so feel free to cast your vote and pour your heart out in the comments below. Don’t worry, we won’t judge you.
