Finally putting the rumors to rest, Microsoft confirmed that it has no plans to release a Kinect-free Xbox One bundle. Such an idea would go against the company’s claim that its new console needs the motion tracker in order to operate.
“We have no plans to introduce an Xbox One without Kinect,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Kotaku. “We believe in Kinect and the value it brings to both games and entertainment, and believe $499 is a great value for what consumers receive with their Xbox One.”
So there you have it folks, straight from Redmond. The Xbox One will not have a Kinect-free bundle. Now if we can only find out what happens if the Xbox One’s motion tracker becomes inoperable.
