UPDATE: According to Amazon, the Xbox One Day One Edition will include the following:
- Xbox One – Day One Console includes a limited edition controller, token code to unlock Day One achievement, premium packaging, and decale.
Microsoft’s 2013 E3 press conference is kicking off in less than an hour and the world is waiting for juicy details to be delivered. Of all the upcoming consoles, Microsoft arguably has the most remaining questions and among them are Xbox One price and release date. We’re guessing both of those – and much more – will be announced today after spotting a web banner saying “Reserve your Day One Edition today.”
Your Day One Edition? What’ that? If you ask me, that sounds like Microsoft may begin selling pre-orders of the console today which would ensure you get a shiny new Xbox One on the day it’s released in stores. Or earlier. Keep in mind this is our own speculation after seeing a banner for the Xbox One Day One Edition on YouTube.
One could also assume that the Day One Edition will have some type of benefit beyond being received on day one. That could mean a different design. It could be a special badge for your avatar. It could mean special deals on launch games or exclusives. It could mean anything, but for Microsoft, they’re hoping it means sales.
This could prove to be a brilliant marketing tactic if our thoughts ring true. Microsoft could not only begin collecting pre-order dollars immediately, but also get a huge head start on important statistics for supply. Not to mention, if Sony doesn’t do something similar with Playstation 4, the Xbox One will have a big head start on sales.
Head starts aren’t everything, though… just ask Nintendo.
When it’s all said and done, what do you think this mysterious “Day One Edition” Xbox One will be?
